SITUATION

A new CPO was brought in to transform the Firmenich procurement organisation.  The organisation was delivering significantly under industry benchmarks. In addition to this the organisation was struggling with managing many volatile markets.  The organisation was not viewed by the business as experts in their markets and as a result the business ignored their forecasts for key materials and markets.  The organisation lacked sourcing discipline across the board and as a result was seen as a purely tactical organisation.

As part of the procurement transformation process, Shake carried out assessments of every person in the organisation and made recommendations on each person.  An intensive training and development programme was developed to fill significant gaps.  Shake developed procurement strategies with each sourcing manager in order to develop a pipeline of savings.
